What are roof trusses?
A ‘trussed rafter’, or ‘roof truss’, is a prefabricated structural roof component designed to replace loose timber rafters and ceiling joists in a ‘traditional’ roof. Rafters and ceiling timbers are plated together along with intermediate timber webs to form a robust frame.
Why use roof trusses?

Cost: The strength of a triangulated frame means that smaller section sizes of timber can be used, and supporting ridge beams and purlins can be omitted, making roof trusses an extremely cost-effective solution.

Speed: Trusses can be erected quickly on-site saving valuable time and labour.

Versatility: Roof trusses can be used in a variety of applications, including room in roof (attic trusses), or to form a partially vaulted roof (raised-tie trusses).
